Today I’m sharing how San Antonio Home Services selects the best service experts. Subcontracting is a massive part of our industry, so most service experts are subcontracted. Even if you work with Chuck in a Truck, for example, they’ll often subcontract to their friends. However, almost all of our service experts work directly for us. When we hire people directly, we have more control over what they can and can’t do, which is a crucial distinction between us and those who subcontract.
We go much further with the hiring process than most maintenance companies do.
The first thing we do when we’re looking to hire someone is get them drug tested and check their background. We also have insurance and check their driving record since they sometimes drive a company vehicle. Finally, we have an in-depth interview. Sometimes when other companies are hiring technicians, the company has them put their resume on their desk, then calls and tells them whether they got the job or not—they don’t even interview them. That’s a strange way to run a business.
We take candidates through a two-step interview process, and frequently they come in with a referral. We’ll have one person sit down and interview them initially before we do a second background interview that goes deeper into their work history. We go much further with the hiring process than most maintenance companies do to ensure that when we send someone to your house, you can trust them.
